Current Meeting

BASL and BASLNF Annual Meeting 2008 - Edinburgh

This years annual meeting of the British Association of the Study of the Liver and BASL nurses forum will be held in the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. The local organiser is Dr Ken Simpson.

The BASL meeting will be held over 3 days, 10th-12th September 2008. On the Wednesday we will present symposia on "Liver Transplantation" and "Alcoholic Liver disease". The meeting also includes the Clinical Workshop on “Viral hepatitis”and the Basic Science Workshop entitled “The livers responses to injury”; where national and internationally recognised experts will be presenting.

Dr Graeme Alexander, Addenbrooks Hospital, Cambridge, UK will present the British Liver Trust Lecture on the natural history of HCV infection, presenting data from the national database to which many hepatologists will have contributed.

The internationally renowned Prof Snorri Thorgeirsson, from the National Cancer Institute, NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, USA will present the Ralph Wright Lecture on liver carcinogenesis. Extensive time is also scheduled for oral free papers and poster presentations.

The conference will be held at the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh and the conference dinner will be held in the National Museum.
