A symposium on Hepatitis shall take place at the HPA Annual Scientific Conference at Warwick on Tuesday, 16th September 2008. The symposium, entitled "Beating hepatitis - the problems and the solutions" is organised around three presentation sessions focusing on:
- The role of the laboratory in public health with hepatitis as a case study.
- Inequalities in health - Examples from hepatitis, and targeted approaches to case finding and management.
- Commissioning services for hepatitis C treatment and prevention.
A poster session will be held after lunch and the day will end with questions to an expert panel around the support that the HPA can lend to providers and commissioners to deliver effective prevention and care for hepatitis C.

Two and a half day symposiums run by senior staff of the UCL Institute of Hepatology and the Royal Free Hospital with speakers from USA, France, Germany and Belgium. Programme giving an overview for clinicians and medical scientists, concentrating on clinical realities and developments in patient management. Topics include viral hepatitis, transplantation, liver failure, liver and bile duct cancer, non-invasive blood tests, fibroscanning and insights in encephalopathy.
