WEST MIDLANDS DEANERY ADVANCED TRAINEE (SpR) IN HEPATOLOGY
The post is based within the Liver Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (part of University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust). The unit is one of the largest transplant centres in the UK. It provides regional and supra-regional hepatobiliary and transplant services and offers excellent training in acute and chronic liver disease.
Applications are invited for a fixed 12 month appointment in pure hepatology. The successful applicant will work with a team of 9 Consultant Hepatologists, and 7 Gastroenterology Specialist Registrars (including the Clinical Lecturer and Walport fellow). The Queen Elizabeth Liver Unit comprises dedicated intensive care beds, a hepatology ward of 20 beds, a day-case procedure unit, and dedicated outpatient facilities. There is exposure to all aspects of hepatology, including the management of acute liver failure and treatment of chronic viral hepatitis. The unit has an active basic and clinical research programme, and a postgraduate lecture programme.

Specialist Registrar/Specialist Trainee in Hepatology
Applications are invited for a Specialist Registrar / Specialist Trainee post within the South West Liver Unit at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth to start in September 2010. The department is a rapidly expanding, dynamic unit with a growing national reputation.
This is a 12 month post recognised for accreditation in the sub-speciality of Hepatology. It is aimed at a senior Gastroenterology trainee wishing to sub-specialise in hepatology and hepatobiliary medicine. The successful candidate will receive training in all aspects of hepatology, including pre- and post- liver transplant care, whilst working in a busy general hepatology department. They will be expected to lead on the transplant assessment process and to actively participate in clinical trials including current studies using HCV-specific protease inhibitors. There will be ample
opportunity for training in advanced endoscopy and ERCP if desired. Wherever possible the training objectives of the post will be tailored to the requirements of the individual.
All applicants must already have an NTN number in Gastroenterology and be able to retain their number throughout the duration of the post. All applicants must be in possession of the essential qualification requirements for appointment by the closing date and in possession of the essential experience for appointment within 3 months of the closing date, as set out in the person specification. Successful applicants must be in possession of all essential
requirements by the time they commence in post.

Edinburgh Royal Infirmary is advertising a 12 month post in hepatology available to SpR's in gastroenterology holding a national training number, and leads to subspecialty accreditation in hepatology.
The post holder will work in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, spendingtime both on the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit and the Liver Ward.
